Generational Insomnia?

I’ve had a lot of conversations recently with friends talking about the occasional and not-so-occasional sleepless nights we recently experienced. Just last night I couldn’t sleep myself and spent a couple hours tossing, turning and wondering why. I woke up this morning to Facebook statuses of a couple others who also could not sleep. What is going on? I’ve always attributed sleeplessness to anxiety, so is our generation over-stressed? Or perhaps overly stimulated by bright computer screens at night that our internal clocks are confused? I also learned that about 1 in 5 women in their 40s take antidepressants, which really concerns me about the mental and psychological well-being of our society.
