Jeremy Lin - a man to ‘score’
Lately there has been all this hype in the Asian-American community over this NBA star Jeremy Lin. At first I was like, “yeah, good for us, finally represented in NBA, but… what’s the big deal?!?” But after just a bit of research on the guy, I am now gladly riding the Jeremy Lin bandwagon. In fact, I’ve got a bit of a huge crush. Here are the 7 reasons why I think Jeremy Lin is the perfect man for me:
7. He’s tall (like reaaally tall…)
6. He’s athletic (like it’s his job)
5. He’s got a goofy side and doesn’t need to hide it. Check out this endearing nerdy handshake between him and his Stanford-grad teammate Landry Fields.
4. He’s proud to be Asian (As the token Asian-American in NBA, his ethnicity is a source of pride and not shame for him. Even his involvement with the Asian Youtube community shows that he chooses to be active in the Asian community.)
3. He’s smart (Harvard-grad, ‘nuff said)
2. He’s passionate (I watched this video about his typical day, and he has like a portable selection of basketball shoes in his car trunk… now if that’s not dedication then I don’t know what is… haha jk, but honestly all athletes work extremely hard, and he is no exception.)
1. He’s passionate about God (What?! He’s Christian?! Is this real life?! Let’s head to the altar now! He has voiced great respect for Tim Tebow and a desire to emulate Tebow’s charity work, attitude in the game, and outward demonstration of faith. According to sources, he wants to be a pastor, and his one new year resolution this year was to love God more, and not to win a certain number of games.)
A man whose eyes are set on God above, who still has killer aim at the hoop… How blessed is the woman (me) who will one day be his wife!
